Viewpoint Color Magazine, the publication specialising in the study and analysis of colour trends, has dedicated its latest issue to the world’s most popular sport, to mark the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The football issue invites readers to view football as a global system and a cultural phenomenon, in which colour, too, becomes an expression of identity, a sense of belonging and shared symbols:

In football, colour is never incidental; it is fundamental. Colours define teams, but they also define emotion. They create a sense of belonging, but also opposition.”

Among the articles in this issue are:

  • the collaboration between Antwerp, Adidas and Ilyes Griyeb to explore life around the football pitches of Marrakech;
  • the global Around the World campaign by Lack of Guidance and New Balance, which explores football culture in Curaçao, Egypt, Italy and the Netherlands;
  • Glitch Camp, a project by the Istituto Europeo di Design presented during Design Week 2025 under the title Designing Togetherness, which transformed a football pitch into a temporary home for 400 students from 45 different countries;
  • Adidas’ collaboration with Mexican artisans, who created a series of sculptures inspired by the ball used in the traditional Mesoamerican game.

 The magazine is available for consultation at the IED Milan Fashion Library.

We look forward to seeing you at the library to discover how colour can tell the story of football from a fresh perspective!
