EBSCOhost is an online research platform that provides library users with a vast collection of academic ebooks, mainly foreign, on design, architecture, fashion and textiles, social sciences, management, photography, etc.

The collection is periodically updated depending on the requirements of the various courses, on request for specialist and shared research (thesis projects, for example), to overcome printed bibliographic gaps, in the wake of the latest editorial innovations and to build specific reading paths.

In EBSCO eBooks you will find:
- the latest Bloomsbury publications on sustainability, ethics and sociology of fashion and textile design;
- a collection of publications by the prestigious publisher Laurence King Publishing;
- a collection created to meet the demands of thesis students and focused on sustainability, urban design, food experience, event design, mobility, smart city, museum design, etc.;
- the “Design & the Pandemic” collection, where we provide texts on how design can play a dominant role in responding to new post-pandemic needs;
- a collection with some course texts that are most suited to digital usability.

How to access the resource

On Campus: search.ebscohost.com. If you use your own PC you must be connected to the IED Wi-Fi.

Off Campus:
- download the EBSCO Mobile App: select “IED - Istituto Europeo di Design” from the list of Institutions and enter the credentials provided by the Library;
- OPAC reserved area. Apply for your credentials at the library or here. Once you have logged in, you will find the EBSCOhost access link in Databases.

Ebooks can be consulted online but it is also possible to request digital lending (downloading the ebook), after creating a free private MY EBSCOhost area. Your personal account coincides with a My Folder where you can collect and store information (images, notes, links, research, etc.) and where the ebook will be stored once downloaded, with the possibility to also view it offline (until the lending period expires or you return the ebook).

How does digital lending work?

The first step is to create a free private MY EBSCOhost area.
To download ebooks from the platform, you also need a free software tool that allows you to read them: e.g. Adobe Digital Editions, or similar. However, you must first create an Adobe ID, if you do not already have one, starting from the Adobe website.
However, if you use the app, you can download and read EBSCO eBooks without having to create an Adobe ID or use the Adobe Digital Editions app.
